The Algarve Region
Salema
« Back to The Algarve Region

The nearest beach to Parque da Floresta, Quinta da Encosta Velha and The View is Salema. A small, traditional Algarve fishing village, the beach here is long, sandy and fringed by typical Algarve yellow cliffs. The gently sloping beach is kept pristinely clean and provides safe swimming for all the family.

As part of the Costa Vincentina Natural Park, Salema’s traditional Algarve beauty has been maintained and guarantees a relaxing Algarve holiday destination away from the madding crowds. That said, Salema still offers a wealth of activities, and superb restaurants to choose from, all within a stone’s throw of most of Vigia’s resorts. In addition, there are several small shops and a small grocery store at which you can get your newspapers and daily essentials whilst staying at Vigia Resorts.

To this day, Salema still operates as it has done for centuries as a fishing village, with the boats bringing back their daily catch of sardines, mackerel and sea bream. As you would expect, the village has a number of delightful seafood restaurants alongside the beach and the small street which runs parallel to the front.
